Schon: RR&R plus Week Thirteen NFL Picks

Is it just me, or is everyone feeling jacked about how this franchise has worked its way straight to mediocrity?

Ok, here's the deal - like it or not, Josh McDaniels is head coach of the Denver Broncos – at least for now. Meanwhile, the number of empty seats continues to grow, fans feel ripped and a franchise that once prided itself on class and integrity has sunk to a level slightly above Mel Gibson's train wreck.

That's a lot to accomplish over the course of twenty-eight weeks, but thanks to some expert dismantling, pink slips for all of Shanahan's leftovers and a keen sense for hiring video personnel, Josh and Co. have been able to do just that.

Wow, congratulations… I'm almost speechless.

Somebody not quite so speechless was Broncos owner Pat Bowlen, who busted out his best "Yes he will. I am not interested in making a coaching change," card to AOL's Fanhouse when asked if McDaniels would be returning for the 2011 season.

Two hours later, while Broncos fans were busy mixing and stirring Kool-Aid, the dance changed - with the team's official release quoting Bowlen's revamped version, "We will continue to monitor the progress of the team and evaluate what's in the best interest of this franchise," which, as we all know, is pretty much a prelude to the kiss of death.

Just ask Wade Phillips.

Within weeks of giving the seal of approval to his head coach, Dallas owner Jerry Jones dropped the axe and Phillips was out faster than my first prom date, with far less pleading.

How's that for Texas hospitality?

Any chance we can find some of that here in the Mile High?

On to the picks…
