Denver Broncos
2013 draft picks: 1st round (28), 2(58), 3(90), 4(125), 5(161), 7(234)

It was remarkable to see Tim Tebow take the Broncos to the playoffs one season and Peyton Manning the next running two opposite offensive systems. Manning showed last season that he still has the juice and is still a magnificent quarterback. This season one would think the Denver offense could be even better, especially with the addition of wide receiver Wes Welker. If the Broncos can find a consistent run game to match Manning and the pass game their offense should be very hard to defend.

It’s the other side of the ball where John Fox and his Broncos have to worry. First, Denver inexplicitly lost Elvis Dumervil. This pass rushing defensive end is now with the Super Bowl champion Ravens. They also lost defensive end Jason Hunter, linebacker D.J. Williams, safety Jim Leonhard and cornerback Tracy Porter. A good find was defensive tackle Terrence Knighton but this is still a position they will need to address in the draft as to will be linebacker even after the Stewart Bradley pickup. Denver also signed a veteran cornerback in Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.

Draft Needs
1. Defensive Line
The Broncos need to address their defensive front across the board. They must pick up at least one defensive end and tackle in the draft. I would expect their first round pick to go to the best available at one of these two positions. There is a chance that Bjoern Werner could be there at No. 28. So go could be Damontre Moore, although he could slide into the second round.

In terms of tackles we will just have to see who’s available. Could Sylvester Williams? Maybe. If not they may have to wait until the second or third round but it also depends on what they want. With the signing of Knighton you would believe that they want more of a three-technique but Denver could want one quicker tackle and one big bodied. If you are going bigger to play a one tech that there could be a few guys to choose from with the first and possibly second pick of theirs.

2. Middle Linebacker
If it were me I would address this in the mid to later rounds. Use your first to picks to take a defensive end and tackle. After that go draft a middle linebacker. Players like Jon Bostic, Kiko Alonso, and Michael Mauti could all be around by the time it’s Denver’s turn in the third round. On the down side, middle linebacker is not as deep as the defensive line in this class.

3. Safety
The Broncos need an upgrade at safety but this is not as big of a concern as addressing their front seven. Safety is a deep group in this draft and they should be able to find a good one in the mid-to-late rounds.

4. Running Back
See safety and pick up a running back later in the draft. The Broncos could use another compliment to their stable of runners.

5. Offensive Line
Denver should use one or two of their selections to pick up depth at guard and offensive tackle. You will have to see how the numbers shake out, as they only have six picks.
