NFL draft: Best long-term values

OLB Anthony Barr (Kirby Lee/USA TODAY)

Vikings GM Rick Spielman says he waits three years to fully evaluate a draft pick's success in the NFL. So do most general managers. With that in mind, here is one NFL scout's opinion of the best long-range picks in the 2014 draft.

While most "draft experts" will spend countless hours trying to create the "perfect" mock draft, as has been commonplace every year, those highly regarded and taken early in the draft process do not always pan out once they enter the professional ranks. Most general managers and scouting directors look at the long-range view when selecting players, projecting the development of those "chosen few" three years into their NFL careers. Rather than conform to most draft experts and their projections, here is a list of players I say have the best long-term value and production at the next level at this stage of the scouting process.
