For the second time in the past six months Terrell Davis has undergone surgery, hoping to alleviate nagging pain in his oft-injured left knee.
The surgery, which was performed on Monday at the Steadman Hawkins Clinic in Vail, was termed a success according to surgeons Richard Steadman and Richard Hawkins, who fully expect Davis to be ready to go by the official opening of training camp on July 25.
This is more precautionary than anything else," said Neil Schwartz, Davis' agent. "It's better to be safe than sorry.
Following the Broncos recent minicamp Davis began to feel enough discomfort to necessitate an MRI, the results of which came back negative. Concerned that a replay of last seasons’ opening game injury could severely hamper his status for the upcoming season, Davis opted for a quick cleaning, in hopes of being completely healed by the time camp opens.
"The main thing is they got rid of a lot of scar tissue, which is what I think was impeding Terrell's movement," said Schwartz.
Recovery time for the procedure is generally two to four weeks, giving Davis ample time to rehab prior to the opening of training camp in Greeley on July 25.
