Broncos sign three draft picks

With Training Camp officially set to open this Friday, the Denver Broncos secure three of their seven draft picks to contracts.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Denver Broncos on Wednesday signed three of their selections in the 2006 NFL Draft. Former University of Central Florida wide receiver Brandon Marshall, former University of Louisville defensive lineman Elvis Dumervil and former University of Minnesota center Greg Eslinger signed contracts with the club Wednesday.

Marshall (6-foot-4, 222 pounds), selected by the Broncos in the fourth round (119th overall) of the 2006 NFL Draft, started 21 career games at wide receiver for UCF and added seven starts at safety for the school. He finished his collegiate career with 112 receptions for 1,674 yards (14.9 avg.) with 13 touchdowns while adding 51 tackles (30 solo), two sacks and one interception on defense. In 2005, Marshall was named second-team All-Conference USA after posting the second-most receiving yards (1,195), eighth-most receptions (74) and sixth-most receiving touchdowns (11) for a single season in UCF annals.

An all-state selection in football at Lake Howell High School in Lake Howell, Fla., Brandon Marshall was born March 23, 1984, in Pittsburgh.

Dumervil (5-foot-11, 250 pounds), selected by the Broncos in the fourth round (126th overall) of the 2006 NFL Draft, was a consensus first-team All-American at Louisville in 2005. He was tabbed the Bronko Nagurski Award winner (nation's outstanding defensive player) after leading the country with a school-record 20 sacks in 2005. He played 44 career games (24 starts) at Louisville, posting the second-highest career sack total (32) and the third-most tackles-for-losses (42.5) in school history while adding 11 forced fumbles.

Dumervil, who posted a school-record 78 career sacks at Miami-Jackson High School in Miami, was born Jan. 19, 1984, in Miami.

Eslinger (6-foot-3, 290 pounds), selected by the Broncos in the sixth round (198th overall) of the 2006 NFL Draft, was a four-year starter at Minnesota. He received the Outland Trophy (nation's outstanding interior lineman) and Rimington Trophy (nation's outstanding center) as a consensus All-American in 2005. Eslinger, who started all 50 career games played in college, received first-team All-Big Ten Conference accolades in each of his final three years at Minnesota.

Named Class 3A Player of the Year at center during his senior season at Bismarck High School in Bismarck, N.D., Greg Eslinger was born April 23, 1983, in Bismarck, N.D.

Three of the Broncos' seven selections in the 2006 NFL Draft have been signed.
