Inside sources have reported that the Denver Broncos have traded disgruntled wide receiver Ashley Lelie to the Atlanta Falcons, as part of a three-way trade involving the Washington Redskins.
The Redskins will give Denver a third-round draft pick in 2007 for Lelie, then trade him to Atlanta for running back T.J. Duckett.
On paper, the deal appears to be a win/win situation for all involved.
The Broncos unload an unhappy receiver, the Redskins get help in the backfield after starter Clinton Portis went down with a dislocated shoulder and the Falcons pick up another receiver after losing starter Brian Finneran to a season-ending knee injury earlier in training camp.
Should the trade be approved it would end Lelie’s current holdout, capping his total fines at slightly over $350,000.
