Unit by Unit: Tight ends
Stephen Alexander Tony Scheffler

Posted Jul 15, 2007

The Denver Broncos tight end position is as strong as it has been since Shannon Sharpe retired after the 2003 season.

Starter - Daniel Graham. Backups - Tony Scheffler, Stephen Alexander, Nate Jackson, Chad Mustard.

This position is as strong as it has been since Shannon Sharpe retired after the 2003 season. Graham will be a great fit in Denver's offense. He won't catch a ton of passes - although the Broncos plan on using him in the passing game more than New England had - but having him in the lineup is like utilizing a third tackle because of his blocking skills.

Scheffler is a good complement to Graham because he has good speed and hands, but he broke his foot in an off-season practice, which set him back a bit. He could be ready for the start of training camp.

Alexander is a former starter and Jackson is a good receiver who has played a lot, so the Broncos have depth.
