The Broncos also announced the additions of defensive end Ryan McBean, running back P.J. Pope and wide receiver Travis Wilson to their practice squad while waiving safety Roderick Rogers.
Lowry (5-foot-11, 200 pounds) is a third-year safety who spent his first two seasons with Tennessee, which selected him in the fourth round (102nd overall) of the 2006 NFL Draft from Penn State University. He has played 32 career regular-season games (11 starts), totaling 62 tackles (42 solo), two interceptions (18 yds.), 12 pass breakups and 19 special-teams stops. An 11-game starter for the Titans in 2007, Lowry was a first-team All-Big Ten Conference selection as a senior at Penn State. He attended Douglas Byrd High School in Fayetteville, N.C., and was born on Feb. 13, 1983.
McBean (6-foot-5, 290 pounds) is a second-year defensive end who spent his rookie season with Pittsburgh, which selected him in the fourth round (132nd overall) of the 2007 NFL Draft from Oklahoma State University. He was on the Steelers’ practice squad for the first 13 weeks of 2007 before making his NFL debut in the club’s regular-season finale. McBean was a two-year starter at Oklahoma State after beginning his collegiate career at Hinds Community College in Raymond, Miss. He attended Trinity High School in Euless, Texas, and was born on April 23, 1984.
Pope (5-foot-9, 205 pounds) is a second-year running back who spent the majority of the 2007 season on Chicago’s practice squad. He entered the NFL with Chicago in 2006 as a college free agent from Bowling Green State University and saw time on the Bears’ practice squad that year before being signed to the active roster of Green Bay, where he posted one special-teams tackle in one game played. Pope, who became the first player in BGSU history to post 3,000 career rushing yards and 1,000 career receiving yards, attended Wyoming High School in Cincinnati and was born on Feb. 26, 1984.
Wilson (6-foot-1, 200 pounds) is a third-year wide receiver who spent his first two seasons with Cleveland, which selected him in the third round (78th overall) of the 2006 NFL Draft from the University of Oklahoma. He has played four career games (1 start), totaling two receptions for 32 yards (16.0 avg.). Wilson, who was inactive for all 16 games with the Browns in 2007, finished his collegiate career at Oklahoma ranked eighth in school history in receptions (105-1,315 yds.) and second in touchdown catches (17). He attended Creekview High School in Carrollton, Texas, and was born on Feb. 11, 1984.
