Teams Buying into one-year rentals

The concept of short-term rentals is more prevalent in Major League Baseball, but also germane in NFL personnel circles, as several cases underlined last season. The big payoff on low-cost gambles could benefit the Chargers, Dolphins and Steelers, among others, in 2012, writes Len Pasquarelli.

 It is a term, "rental player," more often associated with baseball at this time of the year, and one that we are likely to see utilized more often over the ensuing week as MLB moves toward the non-waiver trade deadline.    But one-year rentals are germane in the NFL as well, as the San Diego Chargers demonstrated last week, with the additions of defensive tackle Aubrayo Franklin and tailback...
